A special trip for me when I come back to NJ, PA and NY is a day trip into Manhattan. I drove to Dover NJ from the Poconos where I've been staying and got the train to NYC. Elisabeth, a neighbor of ours from Arizona was in the city with her husband and we planned to do lunch when I came into the city.
^ This is the Dover NJ train station ^
Elisabeth is a long time NYC resident before coming to AZ, so I asked her to pick a place for lunch. We had lunch in a restaurant called "Robert" that is located on the 9th floor of the museum os arts and design. The restaurant overlooks Clombus circle and the south end of Central Park. Lunch was wonderful!
After lunch we walked along the west side of Central Park for awhile.
Elisabeth wanted to see a foreign film so after our walk we went to see the movie. It was a movie called "the salt of the earth". A very moving movie!
For the last 40 years, the photographer Sebastião Salgado has been travelling through the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity. He has witnessed some of the major events of our recent history; international conflicts, starvation and exodus. He is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of wild fauna and flora, and of grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project which is a tribute to the planet's beauty.
After the movie I took the subway down to China town and walked about for awhile before heading home.
